03 Aug Miniature Smart Line Camera
The smart embedded line scan camera system Vision Sensor LM is very compact with its dimensions of 45 mm × 25 mm and a depth of 54 mm. All the necessary components for implementing a powerful line scan image processing system are integrated in this compressed format. The industrial camera can be equipped with monochrome or colour line sensors with resolutions of 1k or 2k. It is quad-core ARM-based and also available with S-mount or C-mount lenses.
The camera offers two options for developing line applications: The classic variant runs under Linux, third-party libraries can be integrated (in-house, Halcon, OpenCV, and others). Alternatively, applications are developed with the Imago tool Viewit. The framework automatically handles all basic image processing functions such as image acquisition, I/O handling and other tasks.
According to Imago Technologies, the camera’s high flexibility and performance range make it very suitable for inspecting continuous materials in industrial production for defects. These continuous materials can be found, for example, as sheet metal in rolling mills, as wallpaper, as leather interior trim for motor vehicles and in many other forms. Line scan-based code readers are also a common technology in the packaging and logistics industries to inspect objects of very different sizes. In addition, powerful line scan camera systems are used in the printing industry by checking corner points, colours and other features of printed products.
